When we designed the Casa Del Sol in Montanita we wanted to design and build a comfortable hotel that stills makes use of the local materials. Throughout the Ecuadorian coast I saw rustic hotels and modern hotels. The rustic hotels were just not that comfortable and the cement hotels just did not feel like you were in Ecuador so I decided to use a combination of local materials and modern materials to come up a very comfortable hotel that incorporates local rock, wood and bamboo construction along with a modern type room.

During the past ten years we have become the preferred establishment for the major Surf Travel Agencies around the world. Most rooms have central air conditioning, hot water and private baths. You do not need mosquito nets and you can expect an excellent night sleep. All sheets are disinfected and we have a proper laundry facility for washing and drying. We recommend spending a little extra to a stay reputable establishment like La Casa Del Sol. This will insure not only a comfortable stay but you will avoid any health problem regarding hygiene. Remember it costs money to keep a hotel clean.

We serve a buffet breakfast every morning where you serve yourself fresh brewed coffee, fresh tropical fruit, granola, yogurt, eggs, fresh bread and juice. These breakfasts are all you can eat and are included in the price of the room. We also serve gourmet lunches and dinners in both our beach bar area and our restaurant located close to the rooms. Again, keep in mind that correct preparation of food costs money in both training and better wages for our employees. Our water is disinfected with chlorine and our employees are tested every six months. All food preparation is supervised by our administrator.

In the afternoon you can lounge in the hammock area or head out to our beach bar for an afternoon cocktail it’s your choice. The beach bar has a great view of the surfing areas and is usually filled with surfers watching the waves. You can literally jump off the front bar into the waves!

At night you can expect a laid back atmosphere of a few people hanging around listening to music, playing cards or drinking beers. Its not a raging bar by any means its more a conversation area where people get together after dinner before heading off to town to get to know each other.
